Experience a 7-day Mount Kenya trekking adventure from Chogoria to Naromoru, passing through Mount Kenya Bandas, Lake Ellis, Lake Michaelson, Shiptons Camp and Mackinders Camp before the summit attempt at Point Lenana.

The trek combines challenging mountain hiking with spectacular scenery, including views of Lake Ellis, Vivienne Falls, Gorges Valley, Hausberg Col, Arthur's Seat and the surrounding Mount Kenya landscape.

Itinerary

Day 1: Chogoria – Mount Kenya Bandas
Drive from Nairobi to Chogoria and continue to Mount Kenya Bandas (2,900 mts). Have lunch en-route at a local restaurant. Dinner and overnight at Mt. Kenya Bandas.

Day 2: Mount Kenya Bandas – Lake Ellis
After breakfast, leave for Lake Ellis (3,400 mts). The hike takes about 5 hours. Have lunch while enjoying the magnificent view of Lake Ellis. Dinner and overnight at the camp near the lake. Fishing in the afternoon.

Day 3: Lake Ellis – Lake Michaelson
After breakfast, begin the hike to Lake Michaelson (4,000 mts). The trek takes about 5–6 hours. Enjoy the scenic ascent, with beautiful views of Vivienne Falls and the Gorges Valley on the descent to the campsite next to Lake Michaelson. Picnic lunch is served along the way. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 4: Lake Michaelson – Shiptons Camp
After breakfast, walk from Lake Michaelson crater to Shiptons Camp (4,200 mts). Lunch at the camp. Dinner and overnight at Shiptons Camp.

Day 5: Shiptons Camp – Mackinders Camp
From Shiptons Camp, trek towards Hausberg Col (4,590 mts). Descend into the upper Hausberg Valley and rest at the Oblong and Hausberg Tarns. Ascend to the crest of a ridge known as Arthur's Seat and continue along the trail before descending to Mackinders Camp (4,300 mts). Dinner and overnight at Mackinders Camp.

Day 6: Ascend Point Lenana
Begin with a pre-dawn start at 3:00 am for the summit attempt. Trek up steep screes and a bare rocky track to reach Point Lenana in time for sunrise. On a clear day, Kilimanjaro is usually visible to the south. After sunrise, descend to Mackinders Camp for breakfast, then continue through the moorland and bamboo forest to Met Station for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Met Station – Nairobi
After breakfast, descend through the tropical rainforest to the park gate for pick-up and transfer back to Nairobi.
